The Tamworth community rallied behind HealthWISE and Youth InSearch in November, hitting the fairways in superhero costumes to raise funds for local mental health services.
As part of The Mullet Mentality’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness of men’s mental health, the annual Mullets and Mulligans golf day saw its largest turnout ever, with over 120 competitors raising more than $15,000 to support our organisations.
“It was a pleasure to be involved in the golf day. We were grateful to receive a donation of $7,700 from Mullet Mentality, which will be used for our mental health services locally,” HealthWISE Wellbeing team leader Darren Spinks said.
“We appreciate the support of partners who share our vision for healthy communities and better mental health.”

Mullet Mentality founder Nathan Coburn said the event was about raising awareness and breaking down stigmas around men’s mental health. The organisation aims to provide a safe space for men to share their stories without fear or judgement.
“It’s ok not to be ok,” Nathan said. He explained that the superhero theme was about uplifting everyday heroes who keep going in the face of mental health struggles.
“The community’s supported us; we want to re-invest back into the community so it’s a full circle,” he added.
