Aftercare - Suicide Prevention Initiative

The Aftercare program offers free support for people impacted by suicide. Whether you’ve been personally affected or someone close to you has, this program provides personalised, one-on-one psychological support. It focuses on helping you cope with the emotional toll of suicide through strength-based strategies and care.

Available in Armidale, Glen Innes, Gunnedah, Inverell, Moree, Narrabri, Quirindi, Tamworth, Manilla, Barraba, and Walcha.

Fees and Payment

How to Access Our Services

If you’ve been discharged from hospital due to an acute admission resulting from suicidal behaviour, you will need a referral letter from your GP and a copy of your discharge papers. These can be faxed to 1300 452 059 or emailed to mentalhealth@healthwise.org.au.

If you’re a family member or close friend of someone affected by suicide, you don’t need a referral. You can self-refer by calling 1800 931 540.
