Following an eight year tenure, Lia Mahony retired from the role of Chairperson at the HealthWISE AGM held last Thursday 19 October. Armidale based Board director Lyn Rickard, who has served as a HealthWISE director since 2015, was elected to the position of Chairperson.
Lia has led the Board and the organisation through a period of expansion and innovation and will remain involved as a continuing board director.
“I am proud of my time as chair of HealthWISE. The growth the organisation has experienced in the past 8 years is due to our great team. I hand the baton to Lyn, knowing this dedication to community healthcare will continue,” she said.
Upon her appointment, Ms Rickard stated, “I am honoured to be elected as the Chair of HealthWISE for 2023-2024 and look forward to working with the Board and staff to bring the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan to fruition – strengthening community capacity for improved health, supporting and empowering vulnerable people to improve their health and resilience and growing the impact of our services and programs to help more people to be healthy. I thank Lia Mahony for her excellent stewardship as Chair of the company over the past eight years. Lia has seen the development of HealthWISE from a fledgling organisation to a stable and impactful company with community at the heart of all business activity.
Before finishing in the role of Chair, Ms Mahony thanked Mr David Aber for his contribution to the board during his time as director, following his retirement.
The vacant director position will be filled shortly welcoming suitable applicants from Queensland and New South Wales.
