HealthWISE Gift Fund

HealthWISE is a registered not for profit organisation that is committed to improving health and wellbeing in our communities with a particular focus on the prevention of disease. One initiative that supports our not-for-profit aims is our ability to provide small grants to organisations for activities that share our focus on the prevention of disease.

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation

We have supported Early Childhood Education Centres (ECEC) within our region to build their own kitchen garden program and support children to grow, harvest, prepare and share fresh seasonal delicious food and create positive food habits for life.

Community groups we have funded

The HealthWISE Gift Fund commenced in 2018. To date, we have supported organisations in Quirindi, Moree, Pilliga and Tamworth.

Pilliga New Generation Football Club

Assisted participation in a football carnival. Our support helped the team challenge the thought process of being fit and healthy and what it takes to participate in the carnival team. The grant enabled a sense of belonging, bringing people together to set goals within the community for improved mental and physical health.

Tamworth Cycle Club Bike Skills Sessions

Purchase of junior size bikes. Games and activities were organised to encourage skill development as well as participation. In addition to Monday junior track nights supported by qualified coaches, juniors were taught how to ride on the velodrome and joined training events to increase fitness.

Gomeroi gaaynggal Centre

$20 fruit and vegetable voucher and $20 meat voucher as a thank you for attending the program. This program supported the follow up study of mums and babies who attended the centre for 13 visits from the time the baby is aged 3 months to 10 years of age. The visits include a focus on nutritional intake, social and emotional wellbeing and prevention of chronic disease.

Moree Secondary College Girl's Fitness Program

Equipping young girls to make positive choices for themselves. Living healthy lifestyles alongside their friends, the girls receive a healthy breakfast after group exercise classes.

Donate to the Gift Fund

Would you like to help HealthWISE support our communities?

Most HealthWISE services are made possible through government funding, however the HealthWISE Gift Fund relies on donations. Each year, we aim to raise $9,000 to continue the HealthWISE Gift Fund.

Your donation will enable us to support small community groups to run a pet project that aims to prevent disease in the community that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to run. We will keep you updated on the success of the projects you’ve enabled.
