What can the contents of your handbag say about mental health?

Local ladies are invited to join HealthWISE Lived Experience worker Donna Boughton on a journey through their handbags at Boomi Hall on Tuesday February 9 and Garah Hall on Monday February 15.

Donna will help attendees unpack what’s going on in their heads by looking through the objects they carry with them every day.
“We’ll be examining your relationship with yourself,” Donna explained. “You can’t change other people and you can’t change some circumstances, but you can choose how you respond.”

She will explore a wide range of themes, from body positivity to relationships, to challenging the fairytale of a good life being full of everlasting happiness.

“It’s ok to not be ok,” Donna said. “Happiness is fleeting, but contentment you can choose. Contentment is acceptance of yourself and acceptance of your circumstances. Through that acceptance we can bring a bit of joy and pleasure into our lives.”

The free event, which is sponsored by Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network, will also include a light lunch and on site health checks.

To RSVP, call 6792 5514 by Monday, February 8 for the Boomi talk or Sunday, February 14 for the Garah event.
