Susan joined HealthWISE in 2023 to deliver care navigation services for the Scenic Rim Local Government Area. Susan resides in a rural location within the Scenic Rim and has experience as a volunteer with the Scenic Rim Disasters volunteer group.
Susan feels comfortable attending community events and engaging with councils and local stakeholders. She has always wanted to help her community further and said, “being in the HealthWISE Recover, Adapt, Connect team has enabled me to do that”.
As well as the devastating effects of the 2019-20 bushfires, the towns and rural localities within the local government area Susan services, including Beaudesert, Kooralbyn and Rathdowney have also been damaged by flood events.
Susan’s work has focused on wellbeing in many different forms. Asking the community what they need has been critical to the success of the program. For some populations this might be first aid workshops, for others, bringing parents together who need additional assistance.
As well as working with the wider community, Susan has enjoyed working within the Recover, Adapt, Connect team to discuss ideas to support different areas, all with the support of other professionals including the HealthWISE Information Technology (IT) team.

Being able to live rurally, work mostly remotely and deliver a great service to the area has been amazing.
