HealthWISE is running a FREE, 3-day EMDR retreat for victim-survivors of domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV).
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy technique designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories, particularly effective for treating PTSD. It is a powerful therapeutic approach that facilitates healing from trauma by helping individuals process distressing memories in a supportive environment.
The retreats will include:
- Daily EMDR sessions
- Trauma informed yoga daily
- Mindfulness & meditation
- Psychoeducation
Please note: you are NOT required to disclose any trauma experiences to the group
Eligibility requirements:
- Past experience with DFSV (not currently in crisis)
- Available for all 3 retreat days
- Participate in an initial screening interview and willing to complete pre & post retreat questionnaires/interviews (inc. 3 & 6 months)
- No suicidal risk in the past 3 months
- No chronic alcohol or drug misuse
- No serious current medical conditions
Retreat dates & times:
This 3-day retreat will run Tuesday to Thursday from 9:30am to 4:30pm.
Armidale February 10th – 12th
Morning tea, lunch & afternoon tea provided, please advise of any dietary requirements
Only 8 spots available per retreat.
Participants will be screened for suitability.
